Terms of Service

1. The service

Friends RSVP lets a host create an invitation, share it as a link, collect RSVPs, and optionally keep a bring list, a gift wishlist, and send invitations by email or text message. It is provided as-is, without warranty, with no guarantee that any particular message is delivered — email and SMS delivery both depend on third parties we do not control.

2. This service is in development

If you are paying. While the service is in development, a subscription buys you early access to a product still being built — not a promise of reliability, uptime, or data retention. You can cancel at any time (section 6). If we discontinue the service permanently, we will stop billing you.

3. Accounts

You may create an account with an email address and password, or by signing in with Google or Apple. You are responsible for keeping your password and your host links confidential. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

You do not need an account to create an event. If you never sign in, your event remains reachable through its host link — but we cannot recover it for you if that link is lost, and features such as text invitations require an account.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Friends RSVP, and old enough to enter a binding contract where you live in order to subscribe.

4. Acceptable use

Use it for real events. Invite people you actually know. Do not use Friends RSVP to send unsolicited bulk email or text messages, to harass anyone, or to impersonate someone else. We rate-limit sending and may suspend accounts that abuse it.

You are responsible for having the right to contact the people you invite, including having a lawful basis to email them and, for text messages, their consent.

Do not attempt to access parts of the service you were not given access to, to bypass its protections or rate limits, or to extract data that is not yours. See the End User Licence Agreement for the licence terms that apply to the software itself.

5. Your content, and how we use data

You keep ownership of the event details, messages, and wishlist content you write. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, reproduce and use that content, and the information anyone submits through the service — including a guest's name, reply, contact details, and any note they leave — in order to run the service, to develop and improve it, and for our own and our partners' analytics, marketing, and advertising purposes.

That licence includes the right to share, license, or sell information collected through the service — including personal information about hosts and guests, and not only aggregated or de-identified data — to third parties, including advertising and data partners, for money or other value. The Privacy Policy describes this in detail: what is and is not sold or shared, the categories excluded from it, and how to opt out where the law gives you that right. If you or a guest does not want information handled this way, do not use Friends RSVP to collect it, or use the opt-out described there.

Children. As described in the Privacy Policy, information we know relates to a guest under 13 — including where a host has used Friends RSVP for a children's occasion — is excluded from the sharing and sale described above, regardless of the rest of this section.

Links are credentials. Anyone with a host link can edit the event and see every reply. Keep it private. We cannot recover an event whose host link was posted publicly.

6. Subscriptions and billing

Some features — currently, sending invitations by text message — require a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, whichever you choose) through Stripe, and renew automatically until cancelled.

You can cancel at any time from the billing page, which opens Stripe's billing portal. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund the current period. If you cancel, you keep paid features until the end of the period you already paid for.

Prices are shown before you pay. If a price changes, we will tell you before it applies to you, and you may cancel rather than accept the new price.

Refunds. Because text messages cost us money the moment they are sent, we do not refund periods in which paid features were used. If you were charged in error, contact us and we will put it right.

Failed payments may result in suspension of paid features. We will not delete your events because a card expired.

While the service is in development, a subscription does not buy a guarantee of availability, uptime, or data retention — see section 2.

7. Text messages

If you provide your phone number for text invitations, you consent to receive text messages from Friends RSVP relating to the event you were invited to. Message frequency varies with how many events you are invited to. Message and data rates may apply.

Reply STOP to any message to opt out of future texts, or HELP for help. You can also contact us at [email protected]. Opting out of texts does not affect your ability to RSVP by link.

Hosts who send text invitations confirm that they have the recipients' consent to be texted about the event. Consent cannot be purchased, scraped, or assumed.

8. Gift links and affiliates

A host may add gift suggestions to a wishlist by pasting a product link. Where we participate in an affiliate or referral programme, some of those links may earn us a commission if you buy something through them. This costs you nothing extra — the price you pay is the same.

You buy directly from the retailer, under the retailer's terms. We are not the seller and are not responsible for the product, its price, its availability, or its delivery. We do not see your payment details.

Claiming that you will buy a gift is a courtesy to the host, not a contract with us. Please honour it.

9. Ending your use

You can delete an event at any time, which removes its guests and their replies. You can ask us to delete your account by emailing [email protected]. We may suspend or end access for accounts that break these terms, particularly by sending spam.

Where we suspend or end access for a breach, we may do so without a refund, except where the law requires otherwise.

10. Liability

The service is provided without warranties. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty US dollars. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses — for example, an event that goes wrong because a message was not delivered, or data that was lost.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and nothing here affects consumer rights you have where you live.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will give you notice before it takes effect. Continuing to use Friends RSVP after that means you accept the updated terms.
